Gold Coast metal/punk/whateverthefucktheywannaplay outfit Veal are somewhat of a musical enigma on the local scene.
For a band comprising members of some of the best bands on the Glitter Strip, they haven’t done a great deal over their near decade long existence.
Not for any other reason than they couldn’t be bothered.
Veal is truly a band who follows no rules or conventions.
They have released just the two E.P’s and play only one showcase gig every year, along the way building somewhat of a fanatical cult following that sees each of their annual gigs played to full houses.
This year, however, Veal are serving up a treat.
Not only are they playing their yearly rock concert – to be held at Vinnies Dive Bar on November 27 – BUT they are also releasing another EP, Pleased To Meat You – AND releasing an unpronounceable single called Anatideaphobia, which has something to do with ducks!
It’s a rare triple treat from the band, and as such HEAVY tracked down original members Chris (drums) and Dan (vocals) for a bit of a yarn about the past, present and future of this talented bunch of individuals.
Special guest reviewer Saul Merkin also briefly stopped in to give the boys a bit of curry of his own.
