GROOVER Review: OVERSHARE ‘Cast Iron’

Share This:

Billed as “weird, sexy and fun” Dallas rock/punk outfit Overshare sound like everything I am looking for tonight, so I quickly hit the play button on their new single Cast Iron.

A wickedly tasty bass run starts things off with a couple of guitar twangs over the top, giving the early impression this track is going to groove in all the right places.

Which it does as the vocals kick in with a smooth and casual style with more swagger than a featherweight boxer.

There’s an old-school funk rock laced with lounge bar feels happening here, and the result is catchy and infectious.

There’s nothing special going on with the vocals in terms of pitch and/or range, instead being delivered in a more matter-of-fact storytelling fashion. It doesn’t sound like it was ever meant to be that one song that grabs listeners by the short and curly’s, but more the track that draws you into the sonic realm inhabited by Overshare which, based on this song, is going to be one large universe.
