Italian technical death metal band AydrA are drip feeding their musical catalogue on Spotify in the lead up to a new album in April, and the band have sent me the title track for their debut album Psycho Pain Control to suss out.
Opening with what sounds like a gentle breeze, AydrA soon fire into action as the vocalist vents his anger using his lungs as the band thrash around him.
A controlling drum section dictates the terms of battle, while a swirling guitar lick circulates like a vulture, waiting to feast on its prey.
This is pretty cool thrash metal, delivered with a rawness and innocence befitting a band on their first album.
A cool vocal breakdown around the 1.32 mark eases the tension briefly before a wicked guitar solo spices things up again as the drums follow suit and smash themselves into submission.
There’s some awesome guitar work here, changing things up a bit in places before returning to their original sonic path. This adds a sense f urgency to the track, and all in all this makes for a fucken awesome slab of early metal.
