Brisbane thrash metal outfit Warrior Within are the perfect blending of thrash metal and power metal, succeeding where so many have failed in the past to create a unique and fresh take on an established genre.
With the recent release of their latest single “Pagan Spirit” Warrior Within have also managed to incorporate elements of death metal into the mix, expanding on their diversity and tapping into yet another heavy side of their nature that continues to impress.
Brothers Tass Hadoulis (Guitars) & Toli Hadoulis (Bass) joined HEAVY during the week to discuss the single and more.
“It’s been moving pretty well,” Tass said of “Pagan Spirit”, “better than each previous release. We’ve had two EPs before this so it’s just a matter of getting recognized I guess. It’s quite rewarding.”
While “Pagan Spirit” sees the band move in a slightly different direction, Tass insists that fans will still feel as though the band has stayed loyal to their roots.
“The way I wrote this song it ended up being a fusion between thrash and traditional metal,” Tass continued. “The lyric content was based around our indigenous cultures basically using all the natural elements as guiding forces. It’s a good fusion between traditional metal and thrash metal.”
In the full interview, the boys talk more about the new death metal element, the lyrical content of the song, the film clip and having to record it in separate locations, their new drummer, upcoming music and more.
