With the inaugural Knight & Day Festival at Kryal Castle in Ballarat just around the corner, HEAVY felt it appropriate to recognize some of this countries finest up and comers by asking them a few questions and tips.
To be held on December 30 and 31, Knight & Day features recognizable names such as Parkway Drive, Polaris, Thy Art Is Murder and Clowns, but how many of you REALLY know some of the other acts such as Diamond Construct, Future Static, Justice for The Damned, Trophy Eyes or Windwaker?
How about Paperweight, Terra, The Beautiful Monument, Gloom In The Corner, Void Of Vision or To The Grave?
These guys are all the next generation of Australian music, and strongly believing that HEAVY decided to reach out with a few Q & A’s to see what they have to say about a number of interesting and a few more trivial, but important, things.
Today The Beautiful Monument give you the run down.
HEAVY: You are officially part of history, playing at one of Australia’s newest festivals on the first line-up. That’s pretty cool, even if you never play again!
TBM: I think I can safely speak for the whole band when I say that being given the opportunity to be a part of the first lineup of a brand-new festival is such a humbling feeling, and we are so grateful that we were chosen to be a part of it! What could possibly be cooler than reuniting with your best friends for the first time in TWO FLIPPING YEARS than playing in a mother flippin castle?! Nothing. The answer is nothing.
Knight & Day is held over December 30 and 31. Would you rather be playing or partying the New Year in on December 31?
Well this gal gets to play both days, and I’m not exactly the partying type haha so playing over partying any day for sure!
Which of the other bands on the line-up are you most looking forward to playing with?
Polaris, Justice and Windy Boiz always and forever. I can’t wait to give those angels a 1.5m scrunch.
Who do you think will be the biggest pranksters?
Is that even a question? Windwaker. Duh. They are literally Meme Lords.
Do bands actually pre-plan jokes on other bands, or are they more a product of opportunity?
We are respectable ladies (Adam especially) so we’ve never really dealt with pranksters. Maybe people are scared cause they think I’ll hex them.
Just say you are performing on December 31 and your last song finishes at midnight. What song are you playing to welcome in the new year?
Give Up lol @2021 get in the bin.
Two day festivals aren’t easy work for the bands or punters. Firstly, what survival tips would you give the fans?
Drink plenty of Coffee, water is for fish. And if you’re going to drink your weight in alcohol, please eat some food.
What about other bands and yourselves?
Drink plenty of Coffee… water… is for fish, and this is to everyone – wear a mask if/when you can – especially people travelling in and out of states. We’ve got to keep each other safe, I know a few immunocompromised pals that would super appreciate you for it.
What plans does your band have heading into 2022?
At this stage we will be attending a festival on NY, you should come. Am I the prankster? I think I’m the prankster…
We’ll play the rest by ear, seeing as everything has been postponed on us so much. BUT. Hopefully we can actually make it through this tour with Alpha Wolf without Covid being an absolute grub. Oh, and we’re heading into the studio baby!!
