TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION Are Ridin’ High

Texan rancher by day and heavy metal God by night Big Dad Ritch has been the driving the force behind Texas Hippie Coalition for over a decade now. That time has seen the band share the stage with bands as diverse as Nazarath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Korn and Black Label Society. Now Texas Hippie Coalition are back with a new line-up and a brand new album in the form of High In The Saddle. HEAVY Mag recently caught up with Big Dad Ritch to chat about his love for music and the brand new album.

“Ah man we just wanted to stay true to ourselves,” says Ritch with his thick Texan accent. “We wanted to be as real as we could and we just hoped that people out there were ready for some real music that had real attitude. It was just a goal of mine to try and stay true to who we are but that we also grew as a band. What I am really noticing is that the fans that we have had since the beginning and the fans that we have garnered over the last few albums are all still with us and they seem to really love this album. They have been coming out to the shows in big numbers and really supporting us.”

“We are also noticing though that we are garnering a lot of new fans as well,” he continues. “This new album has really shook it up so there are a lot of new faces and new people coming out to see us as well. That was our goal to keep the fans that we have but to also hopefully reach some new ears.”
