Australian filmmaker Travis Bain has released a new trailer for his upcoming feature film Landfall. The trailer for the 99-minute crime thriller is available ahead of the film’s imminent debut on the film festival circuit.
Landfall is about a young couple trapped in their beach house by three armed fugitives carrying a mysterious icebox containing unknown contents, and they must rely on their wits and cunning to survive as a severe cyclone looms. The film stars veteran Australian actors Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2, Commando) and Tony Bonner (Skippy, The Man from Snowy River) alongside newcomers Rob Stanfield, Kristen Condon, Daryl Heath, Andy Bramble and Shawn Brack. The film is writer/director Bain’s third feature, following his successful monster movie Throwback, which was released worldwide on DVD and Blu-ray by Monster Pictures in 2015.
Bain hopes Landfall will be successful enough to launch a science-fiction film he has been developing since 2015 entitled Starspawn.
“Starspawn is on a slow simmer,” Bain says. “We’ve done a lot of development work on it, but right now we mainly need the funding—between $3 million and $5 million to really do it justice. We have creature makers and special effects people on standby, now we just need the finance to get production underway with an all-star cast. Hopefully our state film funding agency Screen Queensland will get behind the project once they see what we’ve achieved with Landfall.”
