Hitting the road with CIRCLES

Share This:

2018 was an absolutely amazing year for Melbourne’s alternative rock outfit Circles. Their album The Last One found international success, they toured with the likes of TesseracT, Caligula’s Horse and Dead Letter Circus, while also performing at festivals including ProgPower Europe, Euroblast and Progfest.

Now Circles about to head out onto the road again to tour New Zealand and Australia and they are taking City Of Souls and Ebonivory with them. HEAVY Mag recently sat down and chatted to Ted Furuhashi to see what Circles have in store for their fans.

“Yeah New Zealand is going to be amazing,” says Furuhashi when we begin to talk about the tour. “We have never been there and I have always wanted to go there, I have been there personally but we have never toured there and basically I haven’t been there since I was a little kid, so it will be cool to go back because I have never ever been to the North Island, and we’ll be touring with City Of Souls – that will be cool because it is their home country and they can show us how it is done… we’re really excited to be going there.”

“City Of Souls is like a super-band so any opportunity to play with those dudes will be a good time,” says Furuhashi talking about his touring mates. “We saw them perform for the first time at Progfest and they slayed it, they are such sick dudes, they are awesome, so that was a bit of a no-brainer when their names came up as a choice of support. That way we can swap and they come here and we go to New Zealand. Ebonivory are young and hungry, they have just come off their own tour, they did some regional runs and I saw them at Stay Gold in Melbourne – yeah they tore it up, they are such a tight band, they are really talented musically and they are really gifted. We have our work cut out for us… we really have to lift our game for this tour.”
