GYROSCOPE ‘Crooked Thought/DABS’

Gyroscope are back with a double A-Side that shows that even after seven years out of the studio this is a band that still knows how to create pure musical bliss. Okay maybe I am a little biased seeing I think that Fast Girl is one of the best Aussie tracks of all time, but I have to say that ‘Crooked Thought’ and ‘DABS’ are amongst some of this brilliant band’s best work.

First track ‘Crooked Thought’ doesn’t take long to get into that familiar Gyroscope sound with the vocals completly on song. The slowed down parts add a little extra to the track and all I kind find myself thinking throughout the track is this is amazing for just a couple of wet days in Perth worth of work. Second track ‘DABS’ sees the wailing guitars of Daniel Sanders and Zoran Trivic break through the distortion at the start with force. The track then builds to a traditional hard rock sock but with the intensity of punk from the vocals. The pounding drums of Rob Nassif lift the song up even higher but once again it is the vocals that make this track so special.

‘Crooked Thought/DABS’ makes the listener so excited for the forthcoming Gyroscope tour but also has us all wondering… with tracks this good still coming out of Gyroscope assembly plant can we expect a very special album in the not too distant future.
