If you are looking for the next big thing in Australian metal then look no further than Melbourne outfit Primitive. With some killer shows already under their belt Primitive have now delivered a solid dose of brutal medicine with their debut EP – Primitive.
The four tracks that make themselves at home on Primitive are as ferocious as the red-eyed monkey on the EP’s front cover… and after just one listen to this EP you are going to want to find out when these guys are on stage next and then get your ass along to the gig.
‘Carved In Stone’ kicks off the EP in fine form showing amazing vocals and brilliant guitar playing that screams for attention The instrumental side to the track reaches heights that I was never expecting to hear on a debut EP. The awesome vocals continue on ‘A Thousand Faces’ which also showcases the very visual lyrics of the band. Close your eyes while listening to this track and you can see the lyrics come to life in your imagination.
‘Black Blood’ reveals a more brutal sound to Primitive but at the same time sees the band work so well together that they sound like a band that has been together for thirty years. The EP then closes with the epic sounding ‘Scriptures Burning’ which very quickly conjures up thoughts of Lamb Of God.
Primitive have released a stunning EP that is not only going to draw attention to the band but is going to grab the metal community of Australia by the throat and demand they listen. This is a killer debut from a band that’s musical maturity shines through with force.
