GROOVER Review: 22HERTZ ‘Back To Hell’

Share This:

All I know about 22Hertz is that he is a DIY, self-funded artist in the realms of metal/punk/rock that has two previous albums to his name and is keen for feedback on his latest single Back To Hell.

A stuttering intro gives way to guitars and a more industrial feel that moves along at a steady and groovy pace. As the vocals kick in, the industrial feel strengthens, and you can tell bands like Nine Inch Nails are a definite influence.

A couple of well-placed, chunky guitar riffs add substance to the track that maintains a steady pace and rhythm. A breakdown of sorts around the two-minute mark offers a bit of a change before settling back into the increasingly monotonous structure.

This changes around the three-minute mark as the music becomes more urgent and confronting. It carries through like this to the end, which comes quickly, leaving a sense of unfinished business of sorts.
