Asheville NC alternative rock outfit Caged Affair recently dropped their debut EP Grass Fed, and have kindly sent in the song Deabru for us to listen to.
Starting with a fat, chunky guitar riff, guitarist/vocalist Tyler Kemmerling wastes little time putting his stamp on the track with a sweetly swaggering voice that drips rock goodness. There’s also a touch of blues in his voice, but that is soon sent packing as the track intensifies, pace quickening with more urgency.
It has a wicked, solid groove going on throughout, with the guitars featuring prominently.
More subtle tempo changes keep things moving at a tidy pace, with Kemmerling fully busting out approaching the two-minute mark. His range is sensational, as his attention to detail vocally. His voice serves as an extra instrument without ever completely taking over the essentials, which elevates Deabru from a good rock song into a great one.
