Not many bands take as huge a risk on their debut album as Cardiff based rock/metal outfit Toothdrinker.
With a singular vision of bringing to life one of his favourite movies by way of musical homage, Sam Khaneka has pulled off the extremely difficult, transforming the events surrounding Resident Evil 3: Nemesis into a grandiose rock/metal opera that is as brilliant as it is ambitious.
With Last Escape out now, HEAVY caught up with Khaneka to get the finer details.
“It basically follows the broad plot of Resident Evil 3. So the story is, there’s a city called Raccoon City that gets infected by a T Virus which turns the population into zombies and the story follows an elite cop as she tries to escape the city while also being pursued by a mega zombie called Nemesis who is a walking tank. He walks around in a big leather trenchcoat, carries rocket launchers, and his only aim is to hunt Jill down. The album follows Jill as she tries to get out of Raccoon City and as she tries to escape this town that is basically meeting its own apocalypse, and it chronicles who she runs into on the journey.”
