“This was one song that we all wrote together collectively”, revealed Austin Mileto, bass player for Sisters Doll in regards to their latest single ‘Black Mirror’. “The riff was my making and I brought it to the boys and that’s the first song where we’ve all sat down and structured together. It’s definitely a lot darker and heavier than our usual stuff but it’s still got the Sisters Doll flavour to it which is great”.
That darkness and heaviness is not something which is synonymous with Sisters Doll releases, with Austin assuring fans it won’t be a gradual descent into total darkness.
“It’s basically just how we’re feeling in the moment”, he stressed. “That song came about – as most of our songs do – through how we felt in that moment so I guess we were in a heavy mood that day (laughs). I love heavy stuff so it’s probably mostly my fault”!
In the full interview Austin reveals plans for their upcoming Black Mirror tour kicking off on May 31, discusses the use of local supports in each town and the benefits of doing it that way, the meaning behind the song Black Mirror, upcoming music, the importance of using social media as a marketing tool, supporting John Corabi, their stint as judges on All Together Now and more.
