It seems that the world has finally noticed Italian melodic death metal outfit Black Therapy. With the world’s media now lining up to premiere their tracks Australia can now fall in love with the band as well as their new album – Echoes Of Dying Memories – hits our shores. To find out a little more about the album and the band HEAVY Mag sat down and chatted to the band’s vocalist Giuseppe Di Giorgio.
“It’s been ten years… over ten years in fact,” says Di Giorgio when we start to talk about the history of Black Therapy. “It all started as an idea for Lorenzo and Daniella our guitar player. It was started as a small band to play some gigs in Rome. We recorded demo and then some years later got signed by an Italian metal label, we recorded our debut album and then we got signed to a German label. Then the second album came up and we changed the line-up a bit and then went on tour, first with Wintersun and then Dark Tranquility and then this summer we recorded our latest record – Echoes Of Dying Memories.”
“In Rome the situation is not so good,” he says as we begin to chat about the Italian metal scene. “Here in Italy we do not have very much support from the media so all of the metal is very underground. It is very difficult for an Italian metal band to go on tour. But I’m sure you know of Fleshgod Apocalypse, they are a very good Italian band. Then we have very cool bands like Rhapsody but in Italy everything is very, very underground.”
