Sydney sludge metal outfit Black Rheno are about to break the Covid induced shackles after 12 months sitting by idly and waiting for the opportunity to tour again, with their initial sights set on Queensland this weekend as part of the Battle Ready Tour.

Vocalist Ryan Miller took a quick break from loading the tour vehicle to have a quick chat about the tour and what the lads in Black Rheno have been up to since last we heard from them.

“I’ve got merch laid out across the floor,” he said between deep breaths. “I’ve got everybody’s guitars and stuff and all that shit all spread out between here and the van – or the wagon should I say – and we’re ready to do it, man. Ready to hit the road.”

With the tour named after Black Rheno’s recent single “Battle Ready” the obvious question is are the band just that?

“Fucken oath man!” Miller exclaimed. “We are 100% itching, bursting out of our skin to go and play some gigs and get amongst it. We’re definitely ready.”

In the full interview, Ryan discusses what the band has been up to since the pandemic broke, their tour of Japan with EYEHATEGOD that directly preceded lockdown, the joys of touring Japan, their latest single “Battle Ready”, future new music, their new drummer and more.
