Arizona’s new metal behemoth Go Ahead And Die is most definitely a band made up of musical royalty and pedigree.
Featuring none other than Max Cavalera, Go Ahead And Die is rounded out by drummer Zach Coleman and Max’s son, Igor Amadeus Cavalera, in a band that not only transcends normal family ties in metal but goes above and beyond.
Igor joined HEAVY for a chat during the week to talk about the new project and album.
“It’s awesome man,” Igor enthused. “It’s a crazy mash-up of punk, hardcore, old school thrash and old school death metal. It has a lot of different influences; a lot of different genres but it all blends together really well to come up with this completely insane, extreme, abrasive sound. I’ve been calling it the opposite of easy listening (laughs). It’s a cool mash-up of a lot of different influences that I like and my father likes as well. We both just took our favourite styles of music and put it in a blender and Go Ahead And Die is what you get.”
In the full interview, Igor runs over the recording of the album, the songs on it, working with his Dad and more.
