For the past few years, Melbourne heavy outfit Tiger Driver have paced themselves nicely, releasing a succession of singles to test the water and generate interest.
But, entering 2024, the death metallers have decided to increase the tempo, first releasing the track Eternal on December 31 before following up earlier this week with the crushing Death Rattle.
The time has come for Tiger Driver to bare their claws and are setting their sights next on Cherry Bar tonight, January 27, to launch the new single and show punters just what they have been refining since their inception in 2021.

HEAVY caught up with guitarist Robbie to find out more.
“We’re relatively new,” he began. “It was a bit of an unplanned COVID project with me and a couple of mates when our other bands finished up a year or two before. We just wanted to play some old-school metal/rock, and it slowly developed to the death metal band we are now. It happened naturally, which has been good.”
HEAVY first heard of Tiger Driver when they sent Eternal in for us to listen to, so we quiz Robbie as to why they chose that song to represent the band.
“That was one of our earlier songs that we wrote,” he explained, “but then over time it grew and we developed it. We’ve got a new bass player a month ago, so he helped with the re-writing process.
Because our style has changed a bit over the last few months, we wanted to make it more who we are now. We really like that song because it’s not your typical verse/chorus song structure. It’s more like you’re reading a book and storytelling.”
