The legendary New York City hardcore band Youth of Today are heading to Australia this July, bringing with them the energy and emotion that make them one of the underground music scene’s most important groups ever.
Formed in Connecticut in 1985 by Ray Cappo (vocals) and John Porcelly (guitar), with the aim to start a Straight Edge band at a time when most old school Straight Edge bands had disbanded, Youth Of Today established the youth crew subculture of hardcore, both espousing and evolving the philosophies of positive living.
In the late 80s Youth of Today recorded the classics ‘Can’t Close My Eyes,’ ‘Breakdown The Walls, ’‘We’re Not In This Alone’ and the ‘Disengage E.P.’ Because of Ray and Porcell’s lyrics and music these records changed the lives of thousands of music fans word-wide.
Having disbanded in 1990, in 2011 Youth of Today returned, bringing their timeless message and spirit back to hardcore listeners all over the world.
