Youth Code is collision of nasty industrial darkness, body-slamming electronic beats, extreme metal sensibilities, and hardcore punk angst – a proposition to many previously unknown, to others one that is simply being revitalized. Nonetheless, the duo of Sara Taylor and Ryan George bring a savage and intuitive approach that has rapidly garnered the band attention in multiple underground scenes. One only has to look over the intensely varied list of artists the group has toured in support of across their six fruitful years – Deafheaven, Code Orange, Skinny Puppy, Chelsea Wolfe, AFI, and Carpenter Brut to name a handful – to recognize the level of subversiveness under which Youth Code operates.
Firing off the back of 2016’s acclaimed Commitment To Complications album, April 2018 will see Youth Code make their long-awaited live debut down under on a string of shows designed to challenge and confront. The band will appear at the landmark ‘Dali Land’ Salvador Dali art exhibition in Perth, before taking on Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Joining them will be Melbourne’s Kollaps – a three piece of harsh industrial noise and encompassing gloom currently riding low all over the world off the back of 2017’s Sibling Lovers full-length. Having just released her impressive new ‘Pressure Drop’ single, the cathartic and noxious techno of Brisbane’s Rebel Yell will open the package.
