Metal Church are one of the founders of heavy music in the USA. Born out of the West Coast metal scene of the 1980s the band was quick to rise to stardom even finding themselves on tour with Metallica. It is therefore a bit of a surprise that the tour of Australia that they are currently gearing up for is their first visit Down Under. Now the band’s lead vocalist Mike Howe chats to HEAVY Mag and gives fans an insight to what they can expect from the tour.
“We have been wanting to come for such a long time,” says Howe as we talk about the fact that the band have never made the trip Down Under before. “Finally the planets have aligned though and all that good stuff and now we are heading your way, and we couldn’t be happier than we are.”
That leads me to ask Howe what he is expecting from Aussie heavy music fans. “I’m not really sure,” he admits. “I don’t have any pre-conceived notions because I have never been and I have never heard much. But I like that because it is kind of like going to see a movie that I have heard is really good but I have not seen a trailer or anything and that is what I like to do. So I am not looking at Australia in any kind of way I am just looking at it and thinking that is going to be awesome because I can just kind of tell.”
