Been a massive week for gigs and the fun continues tomorrow night when south of Melbourne metal soldiers CATACOMBS launch their debut record Anguish at the Central Club, 293 Swan Street, Richmond.

The self-released album, which has been available via the group’s Bandcamp website since February 22, will be available at the show in a special collectors’ edition CD that includes an eight-page full-colour booklet limited to 100 units with 50 exclusive hand-numbered copies.

Anguish was produced by Chris Themelco (Orpheus Omega, Bane of Winterstorm, Harlott) at Melbourne’s Monolith Studios, and a press release from the band describes the work as “furious and spirit-crushing drum blasts, vocals ranking among black metal’s finest and cage-rattling AMON AMARTH style chops”.

Forming in 2009, Catacombs is the band of Thoricane Entertainment promoter and producer Ian Mather. The band has opened for Finnish doom legends Moonsorrow, Japanese sonic tormentors GxSxD and Tasmanian death metal conquerors Psycroptic.

Joining Catacombs tomorrow night are Hybrid Nightmares, Myridian and Dark Earth.

Doors open at 7PM. Tickets are $15 on the door.
