Lovers of symphonic metal listen up… because Victoria K is about to put Australia on the map. Her debut single ‘Monster’ earned her radio play across Australia and the UK. Now she has a brand new single out and this weekend sees her opening for Swiss giants Eluveitie. HEAVY Mag decided it was time to catch up with Victoria K… so we did.
“Well I have been preparing for awhile now,” says Victoria when HEAVY asks her about opening for Eluveitie while she is on the way to the studio to record. “I am very excited about being the main support for Eluveitie. I don’t know I’m just really, really excited about being able to perform in front of people. At the start of the year the people that are bringing them here sent me an email asking whether I wanted to put in one of my songs as an application to open for Eluveitie and I was like ‘yeah okay.’ It took a long time but then when the email came I was really, really excited… I have never been so excited in my life.”
We then switch to talking about her debut album which features her brand new single ‘Lacuna.’ “I wrote most of the songs about a year ago,” she explains. “I have always wanted to do an album… that has been one of my dreams. A lot of the songs are about the deep emotions that people find, and from the musically side of things I got a lot of influence from Nightwish, Evanescence, Kamelot… bands like that.”
