Neck up ya Parrots! Totally Unicorn has come crashing back with a thumping new single, Parrot, out today on Farmer & The Owl. They’ll also take their explosive live shows on the road, with a single tour set to kick off at the end of June, just in time for your EOFY celebrations.
The track, which had its first play on triple J’s short.fast.loud this week, was engineered by Lachlan Mitchell of Parliament Studios, Leichhardt (Gadigal/Sydney), who also recorded their 2022 album High Spirits//Low Life.
Lyrically, the song speaks for itself. The words alone are enough to conjure an all-too-clear image of a character most of us have encountered all too often at the pub or a party. “It’s the bloke that makes ya go, ‘Man, I wish he would shut up about his latest crypto deal,’ but you deal with it ’cause that’s the only way you’ll see inside that bag. Is this a new take on Totally Unicorn musically? I dunno, but we did a guitar solo. How many words is that?” – Drew (vocalist/Aquarius).
