TIMES OF GRACE Make Up For Lost Time

Even in music terms, it’s been a hell of a long time between drinks for Times Of Grace.

Their debut album The Hymn Of A Broken Man came out 10 years ago, with the follow-up Songs Of Loss And Separation set to drop on July 16.

For those who came in late, Times Of Grace is the other musical platform for Adam Dutkiewicz and Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage, but that’s where the similarities end, with Adam joining HEAVY to talk about the new album and its musical direction.

“It’s probably not what Killswitch fans are expecting,” he said, without a hint of apology in his voice. “It’s a different sound than anything we’ve ever done before. It’s not metal all the way through – sorry everybody – this is a labour of love, truly. Obviously it’s our side project, me and Jesse, and we can only work on it when we have free time to do so and now that Jesse’s the singer for both bands we decided to take it in a different direction a little. There’s a lot of more rock and roll type jams, so don’t expect blazing death metal all over the place!”

Metal fans can be a fickle bunch, with Adam erring on the side of caution when it comes to fan expectations in regard to this album being far from KSE Mark 2.

“You know, I don’t really know to be honest with you. I just don’t wanna let anybody down, so I have to give the warning,” he laughed. “Kind of like the precursor to the album dropping.”

In the full interview, Adam talks about his hands on role with the album, taking on greater vocal responsibility, having two accomplished singers in the band, separating themselves musically from KSE, his relationship with Jesse and more.
