Melbourne metal outfit The Last Martyr have released their heavy cover of Bomfunk MC’s Freestyler featuring J-Figure from Sydney’s The Weight Of Silence.
The reimagined version of the 1999 classic features huge guitar-driven choruses topped with electrifying dual vocals from Monica Strut and J-Figure (The Weight Of Silence) designed to hype a crowd. The song was completely reworked from the ground up with every detail from the structure to individual samples carefully reconstructed to modernise and create a track listeners can mosh to.
“We originally started playing Freestyler live around the time we toured with Sunk Loto last year,” the band recounts. “Vin tracked down original samples from some guy in Europe he found on YouTube and we used to play the first verse and chorus of Freestyler into our track Like A Ghost. It just seemed to fit perfectly in our set and never fails to get the crowd going.”
