The Ghost Inside’s Jim Riley has pulled back the curtains revealing his top five songs to play live. After missing out on playing shows in Australia last time they were here supporting Parkway Drive, The Ghost Inside have made good on their promise to return for their fans and are commencing their Going Down Under Tour this October with special guests Bleed From Within.
What’s songs made the cut? Let’s have a look…
The Outcast
One of the songs I enjoy playing live the most is The Outcast. It just has this groove thing to it. When we
first heard the riff when we were writing the self-titled album, we all went: ‘oooo, yeah, that’s nasty!’
Secret
I’m also really enjoying playing the song Secret. From the first day in the studio, Jonathan [Vigil] and I
were working on lyrics and the vocal parts together. And sharing the vocal parts with him in that song is
really special. There’s just something about the vibe on that song, it’s one of my favourites.
Avalanche
Avalanche is always at, or near, the top of the list as well. There’s just something about starting a song
with lyrics that are so heartfelt, and that so deeply connect with our fans and with the audience. It’s
always a goosebumps moment, I’m getting goosebumps just talking about it!
Shiner
I always like playing the song Shiner off the first record. It’s like a genuine punk/drumbeat/circle pit
song. Shiner is the most reflective of the music that we all listened to growing up, and music that really
got us into being in a band, and being in this band.
Going Under
And lastly, we just started playing the song Going Under over the summer here, which is the first track
off the album Searching for Solace. That’s one of the songs that I feel connects every era of The Ghost
Inside together. It’s been really fun to play a song that, to me, feels like we nailed it.
