Melbourne rock outfit Sisters Doll gave their fans a surprise gift over the festive period with the unexpected release of their version of the classic KISS song God Gave Rock N Roll To You.
“KISS have been in our lives for as long as we can remember,” the band said. “The truth is we wouldn’t be a band today if it wasn’t for our Dad exposing us to the great music of that era. Kiss was at the forefront of our household along with so much more but kiss captivated us as kids like it did most people. The makeup of the show and the music spoke to all three of us. When we were kids we would imitate them dress up and pretend we were them, Kiss was our first concert and from then on we knew we wanted to do that.
Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think we would get the opportunity to meet the members and get to play alongside them. We have been fortunate enough to play alongside Peter Criss, Bruce Kukick and Ace Frehley. It’s even more crazy that we can now call these members friends/family, it still blows our minds.
Playing on the Kiss Kruise last year was an amazing experience, and we feel we have built a solid Kiss foundation within the Kiss Community.
When we were recording this new album, we said we wanted to record a cover song. We have never released a cover before, so we thought what better band to cover than our heroes Kiss. It made sense that the band that got us into this was our first cover. We also knew it would tie into the whole Kiss “End of the Road Tour”, so it feels like this is our way of saying thank you to the band that has been in our lives from day one.
We could have picked a thousand songs, but we play this one live regularly in our live set and the lyrics resonate with us, and it’s just a killer track. Even though it’s technically not a Kiss song it’s Kiss’ version we have tackled, and we hope you turn it up because God Gave us one thing and that’s “Rock n Roll. Thank you KISS, this one is for you.”
