Just because Darwin is miles away from the major entertainment hubs of Australia, it doesn’t mean the locals have to miss out. Not when you have bands like We Burn Bridges obliterating stages and flying the flag for metal at the top end of the country.
We Burn Bridges are on the cusp of unleashing their latest single Death Curse which is out on September 1 but will be premiered exclusively in HEAVY at 10 am on Wednesday, August 31.
The track sees We Burn Bridges explore fresh territory, combining the expansive sounds of nu metal with guest vocals from ex band member and rap artist BxK.
Two of the band in Manolis and Jake sat down with HEAVY earlier this week to discuss the new single.
“We originally set out to write a rap ish, nu metal ish kind of track with our good friend and ex band member BxK,” Jake started, “so we thought we would get him on board and get a bit of that rap attitude involved with the song. It’s something very new for the band. We’ve never done anything like that in particular. Obviously, we’ve got lots of heavy elements in the song but that’s pretty standard for us.”
In the full interview, the boys talk more about the new direction for the band, combing metal and rap and the challenges involved, the lyrical content of Death Curse and what it deals with, supporting In Hearts Wake and what they took out of it, promoting music in Darwin and more.
