After a string of sold-out shows around the country earlier this year Polaris are preparing to embark on an adventure to some of our more obscure live venues, in the process spreading their musical seed even further.
“It’s very important,” agreed vocalist Jamie Hails on the significance of playing out of the way places. “We’re going out to quite a few places that we’ve never been to or had the chance to get to. I’m really excited to see who – if anyone – knows us out in these places we’re going to. I’m just really looking forward to meeting people who have wanted to meet us and see us play over the years and haven’t had a chance to. I think it’s important to get to these places that don’t frequently get a lot of shows or all of the tours coming through.”
Polaris are touring on the back of last years debut album ‘The Mortal Coil’, one of the most anticipated local releases of 2017.
“Of course that placed extra pressure on us,” Hails laughed. “When we were writing the record we were not only trying to write music for ourselves that we enjoy and want to hear but we’ve now got to live up to the standards of what our fans expect and want to hear out of us as well. With being such an anticipated release there was that extra pressure for sure.”
Listen to the full interview to hear Jamie discuss life in the band since the breakout success of ‘The Mortal Coil’, exactly what the band was aiming for with the album, the musical climate into which the band was born plus the extra responsibility that comes with being recognized as one of the leaders in Australian metalcore.
