The Queensland Music Awards have announced the category nominees for ‘Best Heavy Song.’ Nominations include Caligulas’s Horse, Balloons Kill Babies, Dark Symphonica and The Steady As She Goes. The awards will be held on 21 March 2016.
A highlight of the night will be the bestowment of Arts Queensland’s $10,000 Billy Thorpe Scholarship to an emerging Queensland based contemporary musician or band. The scholarship is an initiative of the Queensland Government to support new local talent. The four finalists in the running for this prestigious award are Babaganouj, FOREVR, Leanne Tennant and Luke Peacock.
Winners across the 24 QMA categories will be announced at the 2016 event, which for the second year running returns to the Brisbane Powerhouse. Limited tickets for the Queensland Music Awards event go on sale through the Brisbane Powerhouse box office on February 8.
