From Goa, India, comes Within Ceres, a progressive modern metal band, one that is committed to crafting music that leaves an imprint on those that hear them. Founded in 2013 by lead guitarist and primary songwriter Odin De Sa, the six-piece act has cultivated a unique sound and vision that sets Within Ceres apart in the metal scene. Joining Odin are guitarist Kadesh Dsouza, Naizian Fernandes on keys, bassists Valiston Fernandes and Aaron Braganza, drummer Samar Shinde and vocalist Arnold Carvalho.
The idea for the name of the band arose from deeper thoughts of an advanced, artificial reality called ‘Ceres’, where users immerse themselves in a world far beyond today’s virtual reality. This reality offers endless possibilities, allowing individuals to explore and exist in any dimension they choose. However, this futuristic world comes at a cost—it’s a place where rapid modernization has stripped away the essence of humanity, creating a dichotomy between a seemingly utopian future and a dystopian existence.
Within Ceres’ music captures this tension, offering listeners a glimpse into a world where technological advancement and true human nature collide. Their discography includes their enigmatic EP Skyless (2020) and the relentlessly hypnotic single Untether (2021). In 2024, the band plans to release two new singles: Bloodlust being the first, which sees the band further exploring the themes of their futuristic concept.
