Melbourne vocalist Karly Jewell has delivered her new single, In The Dark. Demonstrating more of her diverse range, both in songwriting and vocal delivery, In The Dark is a brooding, melancholic haunting ballad that aches with honesty.
Karly says that “In The Dark is a song about reflection, it’s memories, it’s learning and it’s personal growth and to continue. As an artist sometimes it’s the feeling of the saddest emotions that gets the music flowing. I felt homesick and was still grieving the loss of my Grandmother and during that time I suffered from complicated grief.
Sometimes the only way I could find peace was laying in my room in the dark and crying for hours but it was all a part of the healing. It was also the time I realised that no place would ever feel like home, because the ones you loose have your heart and within their heart is where your home used to live.
In the dark we find music, and in the music we find healing.”
