Mestis is the solo project of world-renowned guitarist Javier Reyes (Animals As Leaders). Reyes states: “I’ve always wanted to create a style of music that focused on being emotionally exploitive and technically sound, yet simple enough for the average music listener to appreciate. Another influence was using the eight string guitar in a form that is unconventional to the ‘trends’ or independent of characteristics that are found in music styles/genres that have popularised it. Another and important reason was to create a true form of my own independent voice as an artist. To create music that expressed my personality, upbringing, emotions and musical taste.”
Compositional-mastermind David Maxim Micic has made a name from himself via a number of EPs under the project-name Bilo, as well as his band Destiny Potato. Bringing his solo material to Australia for the first time, his seamless blend of modern progressive metal, experimental, electronic, orchestral, folk musics is guaranteed to boggle the mind & warm the heart.
Before each show, you can also attend a one-hour long Masterclass and Q&A session with Plini, Javier and David, tailored to the interests of the group and covering anything from composition & guitar techniques to touring & building a career as an independent musician.
