Ozzfest and Knotfest have joined forces to create one hell of a two-day festival. The merger between the two well-known brands is set for September 24 (Ozzfest) and September 25 (Knotfest) in California. Ozzfest is celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year, while the Slipknot led Knotfest debuted in 2012 but has become every bit as popular in that short time.
Ozzfest, on Day 1 of the festival, will be headlined by none other than Black Sabbath. They will be joined by fellow giants Megadeth, Black Label Society, Hatebreed, DevilDriver and a stack more, including an entire stage dedicated to Nuclear Blast bands. If you thought, they had used all their ammo on day 1 you are wrong! Check out the Knotfest line-up for Day 2; Slipknot, Slayer, Amon Amarth, Anthrax, Butcher Babies and a bunch more.
At the unveiling of the new festival, Sharon Osbourne joined Ozzy on stage and put aside their recent drama’s to tell the crowd: “Twenty years ago, we realized that there was no touring festival that supported music like these guys did. We came up with Ozzfest and for twenty years it was amazing. And for many of those years, we had the unbelievable Slipknot playing. And Slipknot came along and kicked our arses and created Knotfest. They took that around the world and it was hugely successful and critically acclaimed as one of the best festivals on Earth. Then we decided, ‘Why not merge together?'”
“We are here to create havoc and history,” said Ozzy Osbourne. “Let the madness begin…”
Slipknot’s Corey Taylor also chimed in: “This could be the one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of. Starting out as an Ozzfest band, coming into our own with Knotfest and now combining forces to make a little metal history…it was meant to be and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
Organisers aren’t just focusing on the music, there will also be a wide variety of other attractions to keep punters amused. Daily activities will include; a monster truck area, carnival thrill rides, games, food trucks, craft beer and even an 85 person travelling troupe of freaks! No shit! There will also be a 50-foot-tall and 75-foot-wide image-mapped video wall flanking the main stage, so you don’t miss any of the action.
There’s a bunch of ticketing options and camping packages available ranging from $25 for a lawn general admission, all the way up to $2500 for the Ultimate Ozzy Osbourne Experience. For more information, you can check out OzzfestMeetsKnotfest.com.
