My Inner Hyde features brothers Matthew Simms and Michael Simms. Operating primarily as a 2-piece studio project based in QLD’s Southern Downs Region, Michael handles most of the instrumentation side of things through DIY music production with Matthew stepping up to the mic to lend his voice to the music.
With bands such as Metallica, Machine Head, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Sevendust, and Godsmack all serving as prominent musical influences, My Inner Hyde combines “studio band” ethos (i.e. DIY production, the use of drum machines/programming, and a primary focus on making records) with an aim to revel in the sonic characteristics of Alternative Metal, Hard Rock and Post-Grunge.
Upon the low key release of their debut self-titled EP in late 2017, My Inner Hyde have gained initial airplay on Australian community radio via notable Metal/Rock/Alternative programs such as Break Your Fingers Laughing on 4ZZZ (QLD), and Static Age Radio on 102.7 FM (QLD). My Inner Hyde also received the Highly Commended ranking in the 2018 Queensland Music Awards’ Heavy category for the submission of the EP’s feature track “Fallen”.
On the home stretch of self-producing a new 8-track mini-album, the duo have recently given listeners a taste of what’s to come with the online release of the track “Outbreak” (which also received the Highly Commended ranking in the 2020 Queensland Music Awards).
