Promising a sound created through the ferocity of impact between skate punk and melodic hardcore, Western New York outfit Murder! have recently unleashed a four-track EP, Faith.In.Me, with the title track one of the nuggets of metal completing the cycle.
Kicking in with a steady drum and guitar score, things soon get serious as a bout of muffled shouts soon give way to an unexpectedly smooth vocal score that although rough around the edges still retains the trademarks of rock and roll debauchery.
The accompanying video clip is simple, yet effective, highlighting the band performing the songs in a forest setting with a tale involving a young lady walking through the trees holding some form of candle definitely worth investing more time in.
A cool breakdown around the two-minute mark soon intensifies into a sludge-heavy middle section before gradually growing in urgency before exploding in a sonic rage that flirts with punk overtones before retreating back into the controlled rock chaos that has been a feature.
Great track, although coming across as neither skate punk or melodic hardcore, but who needs labels anyway when the music takes control itself?
