After the debacle that causes the music industry to shut down last year, Brisbane’s Moondoll Festival returns this weekend, June 4, at the Mansfield Tavern, spread over 2 stages and featuring a great selection of rock, punk and metal guaranteed to appeal to music lovers of all tastes.
As part of HEAVY’s ongoing support of Moondoll, we asked some of the bands playing a list of questions to help get you acquainted with the bands before they take the stage.
Today we speak with Your Man Alex Smith
HEAVY: Moondoll 2022 is nearly upon us. Does it seem surreal that after all of the events of the last 2 years you will finally get to take the stage?
AS: We’ve been lucky enough to have a few gigs in the past 2 years, including our 10 year anniversary!
What does it mean to you to be playing Moondoll?
This is our first big musical festival so we absolutely cannot wait. Getting to see our name on one of those gig lineups was an actual dream come true ❤️
It’s a long day of music. What will you be doing to make sure you will still be standing come your set time?
We’re playing at 3 so we should still be raring to go! However as we approach our late twenties, a coffee might be in order to stay out till midnight
Give me your Top 3 Festival survival tips.
1, Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
2, Vibe to the music. The more you enjoy it the better the bands will play
3, Take lots of photos and videos! You’ll regret not having them when you’re old 🙃

‘Align’ seems to be our most popular! Though if you’re scared off by the country vibes check out ‘Run Into The Night’
Finally, what plans does your band have for the rest of 2022?
We’re going to gently ascend into the heavens and turn into doves. We’re also filming our music video in August and are working on the new album!
