“Our goal was to create an all-time Australian classic,” says Luke Seymoup, Melbourne’s busiest man in Punk, as he returns with his second full-length Tales of Suburban Angst. “Something that will be mentioned in the same breath as Hourly, Daily, Vulture Street or Roll On.”
Throughout the decades, thousands of songs and records have been written about Melbourne’s inner suburbs. The streets of Fitzroy, Brunswick, Collingwood and Richmond are familiar images to listeners who have never visited the city. On his second full-length LP, Luke Seymoup is changing this. There is a chaotic beauty to the furthest reaches of Melbourne that many will never experience. Tales of Suburban Angst takes listeners from the heart of the city to its furthest reaches.
Tales of Suburban Angst sees the return of the full Luke Seymoup Band on record for the first time since 2017’s debut LP, The Professional. This record shows a band in its prime, combining the skills and idiosyncrasies of each member to create a sound that is totally unique. Elements of Punk Rock, Powerpop
and classic Australian Pub Rock are layered with thumping finger-style bass, wailing organ and powerful drum fills. It is available now on Spotify, Apple Music and all good digital retailers.
Vinyl is available through Luke Seymoup’s webstore (worldwide shipping) and distributed in the UK/Europe by Smash Mouse Records.
