Hailing from Newcastle Eat Your Heart Out have been working hard over the past few years releasing EPs and working on their sound which consists of all the best elements of grunge, emo, pop, punk and rock. The toil of that hard work now results in the release of their debut album Florescence which will be released through Caroline Australia and Fearless Records on May 17th. HEAVY Mag had a chat to vocalist Caitlin Henry about what people can expect to hear on the album.
“This is our debut album,” says Henry. “I guess we just wanted to continue to hone our sound on this album. We wanted to put out something that we felt was the best work that we had ever done and just make sure that it was really genuine and honest and make sure it was just the best representation of us that we could make at this time.”
“With this one basically all the starting ideas for lyrics came from ideas that I had written as notes on my phone or in my journal,” she explains. “I had kind of just been writing stuff down for about a year. It was all pretty much stuff that I had been thinking about over the last year – experiences that I had had, people that I had spent time with and it was just all about how those things made me feel. Then when we actually sat down we actually wrote a lot of the lyrics in the actual studio, so yeah that was just a couple of weeks of going through the journals and just grinding out these lyrics which was really cool because it still feels super fresh and relevant, it wasn’t stuff that I had just written down years ago it was all very current and relevant stuff. That is super cool for me because the songs still feel very fresh to me, they don’t feel irrelevant at all.”
