It’s #AllAussieAugust and Northlane kicked it off with a #1

Ben Davis, frontman of Brisbane’s Tria Mera has kicked of a campaign in the hope that some of our Aussie artists get the recognition they deserve.

#AllAussieAugust is all about celebrating the Australian music scene. During the month of August they’re hoping more people experience local bands and share it on social media.

Northlane have kicked off the #AllAussieAugust month in style by hitting #1 on the ARIA Charts. Node’s debut at #1 made the album the highest selling album in Australia, outselling #2 by 148%.

This is the band’s first album with new vocalist, Marcus Bridge and the fifth Top 20 album for Australia’s UNFD, who continue to support Aussie artists.

The label has experienced a huge amount of success with its homegrown roster in Australia this year, with strong debuts by In Hearts Wake (#2, May 2015), Hellions (#19, January 2015), Deez Nuts (#20 May 2015) and Thy Art Is Murder (#7, July 2015) already in 2015. The label will shortly release the third album by iconic Australian rock band Dead Letter Circus, whose new album Aesthesis is out on August 14.

We love our Aussie artists at HEAVY Music Magazine and we encourage all our readers to participate in #AllAussieAugust. Here’s what Ben Davis suggests you do:

  1. Tell people you are only listening to Australian music for the month of August
  2. Once a week (or more) you’ll share one bands page to your social media friends/followers promoting a new band from Australia
  3. You’ll commit to buying one album or EP from an Australian band in August and you’ll spread the word

Massive congrats to Northlane and the UNFD team. Here’s to more great Aussie music for #AllAussieAugust.
