ICE NINE KILLS Stab The Silver Scream

Share This:

Cinema meets music with Ice Nine Kills brand new album The Silver Scream which drops on October 5th. While their latest video clip, for their single ‘The American Dream,’ pays homage to the A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise, the album itself goes even further with all thirteen tracks being based on horror flicks from over the ages.

“I am a movie buff. I have always been interested in film since I was a very little kid,” says Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas when HEAVY Mag sits down to have a chat with him about the new album. “I think my love for the horror genre in particular started when I used to go to the grocery store with my Mum when I was a little kid and to kill time while she was doing the shopping I would go into this video store that was attached to the market, and for whatever reason I was drawn to the horror section and I would love at the cover art on these VHS tapes. And I would be looking at Halloween and Friday The 13th and all the slasher movies from the 80s and I just became interested in the whole genre.”

I ask whether the band entered the writing process of The Silver Scream wanting to capture their love of cinema or whether that just happened. “No from the very inception of the album I knew what it was going to be about,” says Charnas. “I really wanted to go full force with the concept using films and music. In the past we have always given a nod to films whether it be in music videos or merchandise design or song title or a cinematic music video but this time I wanted to really explore that world and dive right in.”

The Silver Scream is out on October 5th through Fearless Records/Caroline Australia and you can hear the full interview with Spencer Charnas on the Spreaker player on this page.
