A devastating showcase of Harroway at their most ferocious, Second Best is a sonic demolition – a pulverising wrecking ball of savage vocals, slick riffage and manic electronics. Ripping into action from its first words, the track captures the fury and vengeance that follow grief, betrayal and the realisation that everything you gave was never enough.
“Second Best is about the feeling of dedicating everything you have to a person, relationship, or cause, only to discover you were always disposable,” explains the band. “Written through the lens of a corrupt monarch and forgotten followers, the song explores betrayal, exploitation and the rage that follows when loyalty is repaid with abandonment. Every sacrifice, every ounce of faith and every part of yourself given in service is ultimately dismissed in favour of ‘the next best thing’.”
