GROOVER Review: THE FLAVOR THAT KILLS ‘Nerve’

Share This:

Reading through the information panel on The Flavor That Kills is certainly an interesting proposition.

There’s tales of blood drinking, Egyptian rituals and Goddesses, and a fight with a chicken, all compelling reasons to give their track Nerve a spin!

Opening with a twangy guitar lick, the first surprise is the quality of the vocals, sitting somewhere between sleaze rock and blues tinged punk. It is unique and engaging and understandably quickly becomes the focal point of the track.

It’s almost psychedelic by virtue of the hazy guitar, but there’s elements of so much more happening that are impossible to resist. There’s a lot of noise going on here as well, but it is controlled chaos rather than noise for the sake of it.

And then it’s over, just like that. 2 minutes and 19 seconds of the freshest and most alluring rock music I have heard in recent times. Spacey, rocking, angsty and chaotic.

Must be something to do with the sacrificial lamb?
