New York Times bestselling writer of The Disaster Artist and star of the legendary cult hit The Room, Greg Sestero, returns to Nova to discuss his new film BEST F(R)IENDS. Cinema Nova will host the film’s Australian premiere screenings with Greg live in cinema for a Q&A.
The film sees Greg reunite with the enigmatic Tommy Wiseau, appearing on the big screen for the first time since their cult classic The Room in 2003, which was embraced for all the wrong reasons and became the inspiration for the Oscar-nominated movie The Disaster Artist.
Written and produced by Sestero, and directed by newcomer Justin MacGregor, BEST F(R)IENDS is based on a series of true-to-life anecdotes sourced from Greg and Tommy’s two decades of shared experiences. Inspired by LA Noir, the film interweaves mystery, intrigue, and more than a few dark laughs in a surreal tale about friendship and loyalty.
When a drifter (Sestero) is taken in by a peculiar mortician (Wiseau), the two hatch an underground enterprise off the back of the mortician’s old habits. But greed, hatred, and jealousy soon come in turn, and their efforts unravel, causing the drifter to run off with the spoils and leaving the mortician adrift.
