Getting To The Root Of All Evil With SHATTER BRAIN

Share This:

Adelaide metal outfit Shatter Brain are preparing for the launch of their split E.P with Victorian metallers Requiem.

After completing and releasing their album Pitchfork Justice last year, Shatter Brain continued the writing cycle, wanting to capitalize on the momentum they were building due to the strong material on that album.

Before long Disdain Records came knocking with an idea to unite the music of Shatter Brain and Requiem together and thus the new monster was born.

Drummer Ryan Quarrington joined HEAVY earlier this week for a chat about the E.P and Shatter Brain’s new single Root Of All Evil.

“We kind of just picked up where we left off with our album Before Justice, which was released in the middle of last year, he reiterated. “We just kept writing, and went from more of a thrashy approach on the album and pushed that even further with the new songs. We were writing that towards the back end of 2019, 2020 and then when we got approached to do the split by Ben we tidied up three of the songs, so we had enough for the side of a 12″ and picked three of the more aggressive ones. We have tried to make the most hectic, in your face side of an EP that you could ask for. We recorded it all live, pushing ourselves as fast as we could where needed and got it mixed and mastered to be really aggressive, so it was basically jumping off the vinyl. That’s been the game plan, to make it as in your face and fast and aggressive as possible.”

In the full interview, Ryan talks about the split EP and Shatter Brain’s contribution to it, the film clip and where it was shot, the limited edition vinyl pressings, an upcoming tour and more.
