FRANKENBOK To Release OVERDOSE Live From THE BENDIGO HOTEL

Melbourne metal stalwarts Frankenbok have undergone somewhat of a metamorphosis in recent times.

Scaled back to a four-piece and with new bass player Owen Spratling joining Dan McDougall (vocals), Tom Rossell (drums) and Aaron Butler (guitar), Frankenbok earlier this year released their latest album Overdose.

Overdose saw slightly new territory for Frankenbok, with a more groove-influenced, funked-up sound while still retaining the DNA that is unmistakeably their own.

In a brave move, the band elected to play only songs from Overdose in their live set since bursting back onto the scene after COVID, with the vast majority of fans embracing the new material.

Now, Frankenbok are poised to release a live album, recorded at the iconic Bendigo Hotel in Melbourne earlier this year.

McDougall had this to say about the release: “At the beginning of the year, when we released the new album, we weren’t even sure we were going to be able to play any shows to back it up. It was looking like a pretty grim prospect. Then, all of a sudden everything seemed to go back to normal, like the last two nightmarish years never even happened. When we got the call to see if we’d like to do a show with King Parrot at The Bendigo Hotel, we were stoked. It was the perfect way to end the two-and-a-quarter-year gig drought in our hometown, and we knew it was going to be a killer night. This was also the first show KP had done in years in Melbourne too and as was expected the show promptly sold out. The vibe on the night was electric. So many faces we hadn’t seen in so long. Everyone there had some serious catching up to do, both with each other and with live music, something we had all missed for far too long. We were lucky enough to have Stephen from Riff Crew there to capture the night on film. He did a bang up job and really captured the energy and the vibe so well. The audio came up great also, so much so that we felt it good enough to release as the band’s first proper live album. If ever we were going to capture these songs in their natural habitat, then this was it. The live album will be available on all streaming platforms on 14/10/22 and the show will be available to watch in its entirety from the Riff Crew Youtube channel from then too. Cheers legends!”

Overdose live will be out on all streaming platforms from October 14 or from https://frankenbok.net/
