A Netflix adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba‘s wildly popular manga/anime series Death Note was such an odd concept, many fans believed it would never happen. But, from concept to casting to production, director Adam Wingard (You’re Next, Blair Witch) has made good on his promise.
Death Note is the story of a young man who is granted a supernatural notebook that causes anyone whose name is written in it to die. Nat Wolff (Paper Towns, The Fault in our Stars) stars as Light Turner, who must struggle against police investigation and a growing god complex; Keith Stanfield (Get Out, Straight Outta Compton) as the mysterious detective known only as ‘L’; and Willem Dafoe as the ‘death god’ Ryuk.
Death Note will be available on Netflix from August 25th.
