Eddie Trunk Opens Up On Those AC/DC Rumours … Again

Share This:

Rumours have been abound about AC/DC for months, ever since we first heard that Axl Rose might be joining the legendary band on some dates in a fill in capacity. When these rumours first broke, Eddie Trunk didn’t believe a word of it. On 24 March 2016 he said “I have often said the current ‘media’ today is truly insane. One person can say anything without crediting one real source and the social media world makes it fact. The last thing I read about this was: “a source out of Atlanta said…” WHAT? Okay so how about this; “a source out of NJ says Eddie Trunk is the new singer in Led Zeppelin.” Anything wrong with that? I mean that literally has as much of a real source attached as these current Axl to AC/DC rumors. It’s unreal and driven by the fact that we have the perfect union of two bands that don’t talk for the most part, and have the most incredibly rabid fan bases. It is the perfect gossip online storm! “

Trunk appeared on Triple M radio in Australia this morning, apparently now more in the know with what’s been happening. His thoughts now seem more in line with what most people think. Sources (there’s those sources again Eddie!) have alleged that Johnson was indeed sacked from AC/DC for more than his hearing issues, if you were being really cheeky you could say it came at the perfect time for Angus Young, who was allegedly looking for a change anyway. Johnson is nearly 70 now and even though Young is in his early 60’s, he wants to keep the AC/DC train rolling and it seems that Johnson wanted to pull back a touch and not play as many dates, which is fair enough.

“I don’t think the only reason why Brian Johnson is not the singer in AC/DC right now is because of the hearing issue,” said Eddie Trunk, on the Triple M Grill Team.” One of the things I heard speaking to some people is that Brian, 68, is a few years older than [guitarist and founding member] Angus [Young], 61, and Angus by all accounts wants to continue the band and do more.

Brian, on the other hand, who has to be on these huge stages and sing this unbelievable music for two hours, he’s slowing down a little bit. He didn’t want to do as many shows.

Trunk finished by saying:” He’s (Axl Rose) not the permanent new singer in AC/DC.” Let’s see if you’re right this time Eddie!
