Brisbane alt-rock trio East Capri share their empowering new single, Not What They Want, encouraging authenticity and individuality.
Not What They Want mixes emotion with ambience and delivers on soulful melodies, glittering riffs and a powerful soaring arena-rock chorus. The track takes a stand against expectations and judgement, pushing for self-acceptance and freedom of choice, exploring the idea of breaking away from the pressures we put on ourselves and from those around us to be who we want, love who we want and do what we want in life.
“Originally, we wrote this song and entered it into a worldwide songwriting competition (URM Academy) – which we proudly won!” tells the band. “The concept was inspired by a work friend who was dealing with the judgemental opinions of certain people in his life. He was made to feel shame and regret because he chose his own path. We wanted this song to share that outside pressures don’t matter, your success and journey is your own. We are all running our own race and shouldn’t compare ourselves to anyone else.“
